Macmillan: Review of drug information BOPA Members – Help required!
Macmillan produces many cancer drug treatment pages. They are widely used by healthcare professionals and people affected by cancer across the UK. We work hard to ensure that they provide the information people need to understand their treatment and ask questions. These online pages also link to other sources of information and support about cancer types, types of treatments, and managing side effects. This is why the information needs to be current, clinically accurate and reflect the real-world patient experience. This is why we rely on expert speciality pharmacists to review our drug information, and make suggestions, to ensure we have met our goal.
We are always looking for specialist oncology and haematology pharmacists to join our review panel. We ask that our reviewers complete a short survey so that we can capture contact details, specialities and interests in a way that is GDPR compliant. We have a protected database to keep these details secure.
The help can range from looking at a couple of pages once or twice a year, or more if you are able. We are always flexible, you can always say “I am not able to this time” or “yes I can review, if you can give me more time”. We always appreciate that people are kindly giving us there time and expertise and we are very grateful.
We send the pages as Word documents. We ask if you could add comments and/or mark any changes using the ‘Track changes’ facility. Or you may prefer to email us with your comments.
We are generally looking for:
1. Is the information clinically accurate and up-to-date?
2. Are there any issues that you feel we have left out?
3. Is there anything that you think could have been explained more clearly?
4. Feel free to add any other comments that you have.
If you would like to join our professional reviewers or would like to find out more please contact Helen Purdon at [email protected]
Thank you for your ongoing help,
Best wishes,
Helen
