Communication Skills Survey

Over the last year, there have been numerous requests through the BOPA Education and Training Committee for communication skills training for Pharmacists. Anecdotally, this reflects the advanced roles that more and more Pharmacists are taking on, particularly in Prescribing Clinics.

We are working with SHORE-C (Sussex Health Outcomes Research & Education in Cancer) to assess baseline communication skills training amongst Pharmacists and to see if there is the desire across the membership for further training. If the survey demonstrates a demand for training, then we plan to submit a grant application for funding to support development of an intervention – the format of which will depend on the results of the survey.

In the first instance, this survey is focussed on Pharmacists as this is the group who have made the requests. We will be looking at training provided during undergraduate and postgraduate studies and in the workplace. However, depending on outcomes of the survey and success of grant applications, we may be able to look at communication skills training for Pharmacy Technicians in the future.

The survey will close on Wednesday 5th November.

Thank you for your participation.
