Nisha is the Lead Pharmacist for Cancer Services at Guy’s & St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust & Pharmacy Lead for SE GMSA.

Nisha has worked in oncology for 23 years, both in the NHS & private sector. Over the years, she has set up and worked in non-medical prescribing chemotherapy clinics for breast cancer patients, and introduced several new drugs into practice.

In her current role, she oversee the governance and strategic delivery of all systemic anti-cancer therapy services at the Trust and am a wider member of the pharmacy executive team. Until recently, she was also working as a Cancer commissioning Pharmacist at NHS England.

As the Pharmacy ATMP Working Group Chair for the Trust and Pharmacy Lead for South East Genomics Medicines Service Alliance (SE GMSA), she has a special interest in both Genomics and Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs). She is also involved with national working groups to develop and shape services around these for the future.

Dharmisha Chauhan

Lead Genomic Pharmacist, North Thames Genomic Medicine Service Alliance hosted by UCLPartners & Specialist Oncology Pharmacist, Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust

 

Dharmisha Chauhan is the lead pharmacist in the North Thames Genomic Service Alliance leading on the delivery of pharmacogenetic testing and precision medicine into routine clinical practice. This includes the provision of education and training across pharmacy sectors both at a post-graduate and under-graduate levels and supporting the development of pharmacy competencies frameworks. Working with educators the aim is to demystify genomics to pharmacy professionals and ensure all pharmacy professionals have the skills to implement pharmacogenetics and precision medicine within their clinical practice. Across North Thames, Dharmisha has develop a North Thames pharmacy genomic network to help raise awareness of the role of pharmacy within genomic medicine through regular educational engagement sessions. Key projects include leadership in the implementation of pharmacogenetic testing in oncology, haematology, mental health care and drug-induced hearing loss.

Dharmisha is also an oncology pharmacist at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust and has clinical experience in sarcoma, skin, melanoma, head and neck and lung cancers. Clinical work surrounds empowering pharmacists and nurses to co-develop joint prescribing clinics and supporting immunotherapy toxicity management and currently works within the lung cancer unit as a prescriber, focusing on targeted treatments.
