The primary purpose of the BOPA Education and Training subcommittee is to promote excellence in the pharmaceutical care of patients by supporting the membership with educational resources. The aim is to offer a range of learning materials to ensure it meets the needs of all its members from those new to oncology through to experienced practitioners in all sectors of pharmacy.

Joanne parkes
Jo currently holds a dual role at Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust. She is the Lead Clinical Pharmacist for Cancer services and Advance Practice as well as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner in Oncology specialising in Cancer Immunotherapy. Through previous roles she has gained experience in clinical informatics and EPR implementation as a senior member of the digital project management team. She works closely with the University of Birmingham as a guest lecturer for the Independent Prescribing course and as the lead secondary care stakeholder on the University Of Birmingham Prescribing Committee.
Jo is part of the NHS Leadership Academy where she has completed both The Edward Jenner and Mary Seacole Leadership Programmes.
Jo is also a Specialist Reviewer of systemic-anticancer treatment information published on the Macmillan Cancer Support website and leaflets.
Interests - genomics, immuno-oncology, higher education, leadership, clinical research and audit.

Michal Sladkowski
Michal works at a Cancer Centre in York as an Advanced Oncology Pharmacist. Michal holds an MSc in Oncology and is a NMP working in breast cancer clinics. He has a passion for education and training and wants to ensure that pharmacy staff are utilised to their maximum potential within cancer services. Michal also works as a specialist examiner in clinical pharmacology for The Royal College of Radiologists.
Clayton is the current Secretary of BOPA. He co-chairs the Digital subcommittee and manages the BOPA website. He echoes with BOPA’s mission statement of maximising the potential of the cancer pharmacy team to optimise the care of people living with cancer, especially with the uses of technology and easily apprehensible resources.
Clayton works as the Principal Cancer Services Pharmacist at the Royal Free Hospital in London, responsible for the pharmacy cancer services. He is an independent prescriber specialising urological and prostate cancers.
In more recent years, he has embraced his passion for education, training and supporting pharmacists' learning of cancer. Clayton is a member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Mentoring Advisory Group, and he also works with the CPPE and Macmillan Cancer Support to review content of learning materials and patient information for pharmacy professionals, patients and carers. Clayton is a specialist examiner with the Royal College of Radiologists.
Clayton is an advocate for research in pharmacy, having implemented numerous service development projects, and has published in peer-review journals.

Catherine is Consultant Pharmacist for Cancer Services at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. She is an independent prescriber and specialises in CLL where she manages patients on targeted therapies. She has a passion for Education and Training and is currently a member of the E&T Sub-Committee and is involved in running the BOPA Introduction to Cancer study days. She is also a member of the Symposium Sub-Committee.

Netty Cracknell
Netty Cracknell is an experienced consultant oncology pharmacist with over 22 years of practice across NHS and independent healthcare organisations in the UK. She is the Principal Pharmacist for Cancer Services at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust and also holds a clinical leadership role supporting cancer pharmacy services within an NHS Integrated Care Board.
Netty is the Past President of the International Society of Oncology Pharmacy Practitioners (ISOPP) and previously served as Co-Chair of the UK Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) Board. She has held several national leadership positions within the British Oncology Pharmacy Association (BOPA) and has led numerous UK and international initiatives to advance oncology pharmacy practice and patient safety.
She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pharmacy (FRCPharm) and a Fellow of the British Oncology Pharmacy Association (fBOPA). Her professional interests include digital innovation, medicines safety, workforce development, and improving the quality and accessibility of cancer services. She is particularly passionate about education and training, supporting the development of the pharmacy workforce and expanding equitable access to learning opportunities for professionals across the UK and internationally.

Sarah Mitchell
Sarah has worked within cancer services since 2020 and has experience working in adult solid tumour, haematology and bone marrow transplant. She is an independent prescriber who previously specialised in lung cancer.
Sarah now works in a dedicated national stem cell transplant centre within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and specialises in haemato-oncology and ATMPs.
Sarah is involved in the E&T subcommittee and is the lead of the BOPA Digital SACT Verification Passport Pillar.
Sarah is passionate about E&T, service development and the optimisation of cross sector working.

Nisha Shaunak
Nisha is currently Head of Programmes for Advanced Therapies at Guys and St Thomas NHS Trust. She previously worked as the Associate Chief Pharmacist for Cancer & ATMP; Surgery at Guys & St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust & Pharmacy Lead for SE Genomics Medicine Strategic Alliance. I am leading across the Trust to ensure institutional readiness for delivery of ATMPs.
I have worked in oncology for over 25 years, both in the NHS & private sector. Over the years, I have set up and worked in non-medical prescribing chemotherapy clinics for breast cancer patients, and introduced several new drugs into practice. I have previously also worked at NHS England (London region), as Cancer Commissioning Pharmacist.
In my previous role role, I was Trust Pharmacy Lead for Non Medical Prescribing, Clinical Trials, Genomics and Advanced Therapies. I oversaw the governance and strategic delivery of all Cancer services the Trust and was a wider member of the Pharmacy Directorate Management Team. I was heavily involved in developing strategies to support capacity and upskilling the Cancer Pharmacy Workforce, to meet our future demand. I am passionate about ensuring our services are inclusive for staff and patients alike, and amd was part of both the Pharmacy and Trust EDI Committee.
Academically I am passionate about research and am a Honorary Senior Lecturer at Kings College London.

Lead Pharmacist in Cancer Services, GWH
Tiffany is an experienced cancer pharmacist with over 13 years of experience working at four different cancer centres. She received her MPharm degree from the University of Nottingham and is a certified independent prescriber with a postgraduate diploma in Clinical Oncology.
As the Lead Pharmacist in Cancer Services and the Deputy Chair of the Chemotherapy Working Group at the Great Western Hospital, Tiffany leads the modernisation of chemotherapy services delivery including integration of pharmacy services within the MDT / clinical areas to promote medicines optimisation. She is also an advocate for pharmacist /nurse led SACT review clinics and has set up a CDK 4/6i review clinic alongside the secondary breast CNS. Her interests are in haematology (Myeloma/CLL/MPN) and breast cancer. She is a member of the International Society of Oncology Pharmacy Practitioners, the European Society for Medical Oncology and the European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation.

Joseph is the Education and Training Lead, Non‑Medical Prescribing (NMP) Pharmacy Lead, and a Specialist Cancer Pharmacist at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, with advanced clinical and research expertise in colorectal cancer and care closer to home models. An independent prescriber within the colorectal cancer specialty, he leads patient‑facing services and drives applied health research to improve clinical outcomes and service delivery.
In his education leadership role, Joseph provides strategic oversight and direction for pharmacy education and training across the organisation, leading the development and delivery of education and training strategy, workforce development initiatives, and advancing practice pathways aligned to service need and national priorities. As NMP Pharmacy Lead, he provides professional leadership for independent prescribing, supporting governance, education, and the expansion of prescribing practice across pharmacy services. Joseph is also an Honorary Clinical Lecturer in the Division of Pharmacy & Optometry at the University of Manchester, where he teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate cancer programmes.
His national and international leadership includes serving as Chair of the British Oncology Pharmacy Association (BOPA) from 2022 to 2025, election to the UK SACT Board (2023 to 2026 - including Co‑Chair in 2025), and election as Vice Chair of the International Society of Oncology Pharmacy Practitioners (ISOPP) Education Committee from 2025. He also was also part of the UK Pharmacy Professional Leadership Advisory Board (UKPPL) from 2023 to 2026, marking a key step in his national professional leadership journey and subsequently leading to his election to the Royal College of Pharmacy’s (RCPharm) English Pharmacy Advisory Council (EPAC) in April 2026, where he contributes to strategic advice on pharmacy practice and policy across England. Joseph is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Pharmacy (RCPharm). He is deeply committed to advancing excellence in pharmacy through education, research, leadership, and innovation.

Ms Diana Matthews works as an Advanced Oncology Pharmacist and Urology Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP) at the Velindre Cancer Centre, Cardiff.
Ms Matthews completed her degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Porto in 2006. She came to the UK in 2008 and eventually started to work as a Diploma Pharmacist at the Whittington Health NHS Trust, North London. She went on to pursue a career in oncology and, after finishing her Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy, started working at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, London. Almost 4 years later, she moved to St George’s Hospital, London, where she completed her NMP training in prostate cancer. The circle was closed when she returned to the Whittington Hospital as their Lead Pharmacist for Cancer Services.
In 2019, Ms Matthews and her family relocated to Wales, and at the beginning of 2020 she started her current role at Velindre Cancer Centre where she specialises in urological cancers as prostate, bladder and renal, and runs SACT review clinic sessions alongside the team. Most recently, she has been elected a member of the BOPA executive committee.

My name is Claire Kennedy and I am an Advanced Clinical Cancer Pharmacy Technician and Operational Manager for Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation trust. I have worked for the trust 29 years starting as a Student Technician. I began specialising in cancer 20 years ago when the trust Aseptic work was outsourced.
I started working with Prof Nicola Stoner on projects and audits, eventually moving into a Medicine Management role on the Medical and Clinical Oncology Units. Over the years my role expanded and developed to where I currently operationally manage a team of technicians and involved with clinically screening Simple SACT.
During my career I became a part time undergraduate at The Open University completing my Health Sciences BSc in 2018 and have completed Pain and Psychological medicine at MSc. I hope to complete an MSc in the future. I have been able to juggle full time working, family and studies.
I am passionate about my role and further development. I am I am keen to educate and empower other technicians to further their careers. Currently there are very limited formal clinical qualifications for technicians which is a BTEC Level 4 Clinical diploma and isn’t specialised to any aspect of pharmacy. I am a busy mum of 3 but when I have time I love to run. I like all sports. I like to read and cook also.
