Early detection paves the way for healthier futures: Alliance Healthcare UK Host Cancer Awareness Conversation to Mark World Cancer Day

Alliance Healthcare UK hosted a powerful World Cancer Day event, shedding light on the urgency and significance of early cancer detection. The event featured informative discussions, heartfelt personal stories, powerful messages, and unwavering resilience in the face of this global health challenge.

Pharmacist Director and pillar in the world of community pharmacy, Jackie Lewis, provided invaluable insights from her own journey with cancer. Owner of Lewis Pharmacy in Exmouth for 19 years and an Alphega Pharmacy member, she encourages community pharmacists to support their patients on the cancer pathway. In collaboration with Alliance Healthcare UK, she recently introduced ‘Not Normal for You’— a service designed to enable pharmacy staff to identify early stages of cancer in patients.

One clear message from the session came from Lee Garrett, National Account Manager – Hospitals, AHUK who shared his personal experiences with cancer and highlighted his friend Ben’s journey— a testament to not giving up in the face of adversity. His message stood out to us all when he said: “if something doesn’t feel right, get it checked out without delay or embarrassment because cancer doesn’t discriminate”.

Thank you to all our guest speakers on the day for amplifying their voices to educate and raise awareness of cancer detection. By hosting events like these and supporting patients on their cancer journey, Alliance Healthcare UK reaffirms its commitment to creating healthier futures.
