Cancer Information Development team at Macmillan Cancer Support

Dear BOPA members,

The Cancer Information Development team at Macmillan Cancer Support would like to make you aware of a couple of new cancer treatment information pages on our website:

We would also like to say a huge THANK YOU to the specialist cancer pharmacists and BOPA members who kindly volunteered their time and expertise to professionally review this and all our cancer treatment information! We could not do it without your help and support!

A bit more about professional reviewing at Macmillan Cancer Support…..

As you know, Macmillan Cancer Support produces many cancer drug treatment pages. These pages are widely used by healthcare professionals and people living with or affected by cancer across the UK. We work hard to ensure that they provide the information people need to understand cancer treatment and to ask questions. These online pages also link to other sources of information and support about cancer types, types of treatments, and managing side effects. This is why our cancer drug information needs to be current, clinically accurate and reflect the real-world patient experience.  We rely on our expert speciality pharmacists to review our drug information, and make suggestions, to ensure we have met our goal.

We are always looking for specialist oncology and haematology pharmacists to join our review panel. If you are interested in joining our professional reviewers or would like to find out more, please contact Helen Purdon at [email protected] for more information.

We ask that our reviewers complete a short survey so that we can capture contact details, specialities and interests in a way that is GDPR compliant. We have a protected database to keep these details secure. The help can range from looking at a couple of pages once or twice a year, or more if you are able. We are always flexible, you can always say “I am not able to this time” or “yes I can review, if you can give me more time”. We always appreciate that people are kindly giving us their time and expertise and we are very grateful.

Best wishes from the Cancer Information Development team at Macmillan Cancer Support!
