UKCPA and BOPA joint response to pharmacist apprenticeship consultation

UKCPA and BOPA joint response to pharmacist apprenticeship consultation

The United Kingdom Clinical Pharmacy Association (UKCPA) and the British Oncology Pharmacy Association (BOPA) understand that this is a subject of interest to our members.

This proposal has come with minimal details and a short time-frame for us to consult with and respond on behalf of our members. We understand that there was no formal approach to widely engage with the profession. Only recently, when the General Pharmaceutical Council was consulting on initial education and training standards for pharmacists, this proposal was not alluded to in any of the plans. It is also unclear how this approach to education would align with the NHS 10-year plan and other national directions.

As we aim to work with our members to contribute to future consultations on this subject, we encourage a more detailed proposal and a longer engagement period.

Further information
The proposal can be found on the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IATE) website. The closing date is 14 April 2019.
