2026 Elections to the BOPA Executive Committee: Call for nomination of members
BOPA is looking for new Executive Committee members who are dedicated to furthering the association’s aims and who are willing, and able, to spend time helping run the organisation. Those elected will be involved in working on and supporting the BOPA Vision and Strategy, contributing to national objectives and workstreams, advocating for Cancer Pharmacy, supporting our subcommittees and be part of arranging the highly regarded annual conference – plus much more!
The Executive Committee work as a team, supporting each other on behalf of our members and our patients. The committee has a streamlined format to fit in with busy work schedules for its regular meetings, consisting of a 2-hour tele-conference call once every month, with up to a maximum of two face-to-face meetings during the year. You will be expected to attend a minimum of 50% of committee meetings every year, and everyone will be expected to lead on a project from our work plan. It is also an expectation that BOPA related work will take up approximately 1-2 hours/week in addition to the scheduled meetings – it is important that you can commit to this work load.
This is a really exciting opportunity to shape the BOPA Vision and Strategy as well as giving you great experience of working at a national level and building links and relationships with colleagues from across the UK.
Please note: In October 2024, BOPA membership has voted to become a Charity Incorporated Organisation (CIO). As part of the new Charity Constitution, all elected Executive Members from AGM 2026 will become Charity Trustees of the BOPA Charity. Charity Trustees are required to register with the Charity Commission, and are legally responsible for the running of BOPA. This year we are looking for the following positions to fill:
- Standard Committee Member (6 places available)
Three standard committee members, Shereen Nabhani-Gebara (BOPA Chair), Michal Sladkowski (BOPA Vice Chair-Elect) and Clayton Wong (BOPA Secretary and Treasurer-Elect), are also approaching their end of term in office. The Executive Committee have voted to activate Clause 9b of the BOPA constitution and extend their terms by one-year in order to ensure smooth transition of the roles of Executive Officers within the organisation. The election of their standard committee places will therefore be deferred for one-year.
Applicants must be pharmacists or pharmacy technicians in the practice of cancer pharmacy, on the current register of the General Pharmaceutical Council (or registered with an equivalent organisation e.g. overseas), and be current BOPA paid members.
Please note that BOPA cannot offer remuneration to committee members, but travel expenses are reimbursed.
