DESCRIPTION:Monday 14th August 1-2pm BST \nThe session will be delivered by:\n\nSuzanne Frank MPharm\, Clin Dip\nAdvanced Specialist Breast Cancer Pharmacist  (The Christie NHS Foundation Trust)\n\n  \nSuzanne qualified as pharmacist in 2002 and worked as a rotational basic grade pharmacist at The Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust gaining experience in a number of specialities. In 2006 she specialised as an oncology pharmacist.In 2008 Suzanne joined The Christie NHS Foundation Trust as an Advanced Specialist Breast Care Pharmacist where she qualified as an independent Non-Medical Prescriber. She works in an outpatient clinic setting alongside medical oncology consultants prescribing chemotherapy and supportive care for patients with early and secondary breast cancer. Suzanne has her own clinic streams for early and advanced breast cancer patients receiving oral SACT. In 1998\, he successfully completed the inaugural US Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties Certification in Oncology Pharmacy (BCOP)\, re-certifying in 2006\, 2013 and 2021. In 2004\, he was awarded Fellowship to the SHPA\, and in 2005 completed his Masters in Clinical Pharmacy. In 2015\, the Australian Pharmacy Council credentialed him as an Advanced Practice Pharmacist. In 2019\, he was admitted as a Member (AM) of the Order of Australia for service to oncology pharmacy as a clinician\, and to professional associations. \nJim has been an active member of many professional organisations\, including the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (SHPA) Committee of Specialty Practice in Oncology and the Cancer Pharmacists Group of the Clinical Oncology Society of Australia. He has been involved in the publication of professional standards of practice for Pharmacists as well as guidelines for the safe delivery of cancer therapies. The EMC\, one of the country’s leading oncology centres\, evaluated the IV administration process of immunotherapy. \nIs it possible to treat more IO patients with the same resources and maintaining high quality care? In the Connect and Go program\, Over 100 patients were treated with immunotherapy via an elastomeric pump. This ambulatory pump allows these patients to wander around instead of spending 30 to 60 minutes in the infusion chair. \nDuring the webinar the hosts will address several questions\, such as: what lessons are learned? How were the patients monitored? SUMMARY:My Research Webinar – Tips for a successful submission for BOPA-PRUK grant opportunity
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday 29th March 2023 1-2pm BST\n  \nThe session will be delivered by: Dr Melanie Dalby\, Programme Manager – Improvement & Transformation\, Barts Health NHS Trust \n  \nBOPA and PRUK have been partnering since 2016 to provide the BOPA-PRUK Research Award. The award provides funding for pharmacy professionals to undertake a research project. Melanie Dalby has been leading on the award process on behalf of BOPA since 2019 with the support of other colleagues. She will be presenting her tips and experiences of the application process to support you with your future research endeavours. \n  \nBiography\nMelanie has worked in oncology and haematology since 2011. Seven of these years have been at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. Previously she has worked at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Princess Royal University Hospital. She completed a Darzi Fellowship (a bespoke leadership programme) in 2017 looking at how community pharmacists can support patients who take oral anticancer therapy. She carried out this work using research methodology and published her work in peer reviewed journals. She was awarded her PhD in 2022. The thesis was titled ‘Optimising the Cancer Patient Journey.’ Currently she works as a programme manager in the improvement and transformation team at Barts Health NHS Trust.

DESCRIPTION:Wednesday 22nd March 2023 1-2pm GMT\n  \nThe session will be delivered by: Jennifer Laskey\, Lead Pharmacist\, West of Scotland Cancer Network \n  \n\nBiography (Jennifer Laskey)\nJennifer Laskey recently took up post as Lead Pharmacist for the West of Scotland Cancer Network.  Prior to this she was the clinical lead for the Cancer medicines Outcomes Programme (CMOP).  In 2020/2021 she undertook a secondment to NHS Education for Scotland to undertake the Scottish Clinical Leadership Fellowship with a focus on Pharmacogenomics.  Jennifer is also a clinical pharmacist at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre and\, alongside the Clinical Nurse specialist\, set-up and runs a nurse-pharmacist led clinic for renal cancer patients on systemic anti-cancer treatments.  Jennifer is also a member of the Scottish Medicines Consortium.  In March 2022 she was credentialed as a Consultant Pharmacist with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. \n  \nPlease Note:\n-Webinars will start at 13:00 GMT and will last about 30 minutes to 1 hour \n-The Zoom link for the webinar will be sent on the day of the event around 12:00pm (if you would like the link before this time please email contact@bopa.org.uk) \n-This webinar is FREE to access for BOPA Paid or Free Associates \n  \n  \nThe BOPA Research Subcommittee

She joined Northumbria Healthcare in 2019\, completing her checking course\, medicines management modules. In 2022\, she commenced her role as an Oncology Pharmacy Technician\, starting the Chemotherapy Enhancing Practice course in June – which also included the national SACT passport for administering chemotherapy. \nNicola Armstrong\nNicola qualified as a Pharmacy Technician in 2012\, after a short time working in community pharmacy she began working for Northumbria Healthcare NHS Trust as a ward-based Pharmacy Technician. In this role she completed her medicines management modules and regional checking. In 2020 Nicola enrolled on the BTEC level 4 in Clinical Pharmacy Services at Bradford College which she completed in 2022. In May 2022 she began her role as an Oncology Pharmacy Technician where she enrolled on the Chemotherapy Enhancing Practice course through Northumbria University including the SACT passport for administering chemotherapy. \nEmma Brownbridge\nEmma first joined NHCT in pharmacy in March 2017 as a trainee dispensing assistant. She completed my NVQ training and was then offered a new role as chemotherapy ward medicine assistant. It became apparent that there was scope for further pharmacy input alongside the struggle to recruit Oncology nurses. Emma then started her training to be a pharmacy technician in December 2020 and qualified in October 2022\, joining hercurrent team as a pharmacy technician – specialised in Oncology. \nRegister for your free place now via the link at the top of the page.
