He collaborates with the Benefits and Risks of Cancer Treatment team in Oxford Population Health on studies of outcomes after chemotherapy. His PhD studies focus on treatment effects of systemic therapies for gynaecological cancers. SUMMARY:BOPA Special General Meeting (Virtual)
DESCRIPTION:Dear BOPA Member \n  \nThe BOPA Executive Committee team have been working with all the BOPA volunteers over the past few years to deliver and develop new educational content and webinars\, increase the profile of BOPA by increasing collaborative work and networking\, increase research support and output and creating the BOPA SACT passport. We hope that you have found this beneficial and we always welcome feedback on our work so we can continuously improve for our members and our patients. \n  \nTo continue to deliver our workplan and vision we would like to propose to our members to increase the fees for Corporate Members. We will not be increasing individual membership fees at this time. Individual membership fees were reduced in August 2019 with the development of the new website and have remained at £55 for over 5 years – there is no plan to increase these fees. Corporate membership fees have not increased since 2019 (previous increase from £700 to £800) and we would like to propose a new fee structure for our Corporate Members. \n  \nTo increase the corporate membership fees before October 2024 (the date of our AGM) we need to hold a ‘Special General Meeting’ as per section 26 of our constitution https://www.bopa.org.uk/resources/the-bopa-constitution/ to change the fees of our members (Section 7 of our constitution) with approval from our membership. 10% of our membership have to agree this change (as per section 27 of the constitution) therefore the special meeting may be followed by an online vote to confirm this. \n  \nMOTION at the meeting: To increase corporate fees from £800 to a 2 tiered membership.\nTier 1: £1500 (Current benefits associated to corporate member https://www.bopa.org.uk/join-bopa/).\nTier 2: £5000 (current benefits plus new corporate benefits including more sponsorship opportunities (e.g. podcast)\, and 1:1 meetings with the Executive Committee to discuss collaborations and priorities.  NOTE: these benefits will be agreed by the executive committee after review of the corporate member survey results. She has undertaken her diploma and MSc in clinical pharmacy and is currently working towards her DPharm professional doctorate at Keele University\, researching clinicians’ perspectives on the care of frail patients with multiple myeloma. DESCRIPTION:Wednesday 17th January 2024 6-7pm GMT\n  \nThe session will be delivered by: \n \nDr Harshani Green\, clinical oncology fellow\, Royal Marsden Hospital London \n \nDr Matthew Fok\, PhD surgical fellow\, University of Liverpool \n  \nThe speakers represent UK ECRC which is originally a National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) initiative\, launched 2 years ago. This is a group of >600 multidisciplinary members across the UK\, all with an active interest in cancer research and early in our research careers. \n\n  \n\n\nMatthew Fok is a PhD surgical fellow based at the University of Liverpool and Harshani Green is a clinical oncology fellow based at the Royal Marsden Hospital London.  They are co-leading the group and have a multidisciplinary advisory committee that aims to be representative of the diversity of our group (scientists\, nurses\, AHP\, doctors\, psychologists etc). Chloë is relatively new to the research world but has been experimenting with the utilisation of software packages such as R to help facilitate data collection and statistical analysis. \nBastiaan Buijtenhuijs \nBastiaan works for iQ HealthTech as the head of product and the product owner for iQemo. iQemo is a best of breed chemotherapy prescribing system and is widely used in the UK and internationally. As the product owner Bastiaan is responsible for being the interface between the customers – their requirements and the development team to allow new functionality to be effectively developed. He has undertaken the NHS Digital academy and was part of Cohort 3. He has recently completed his MSc as part of the NHS Digital academy and written his dissertation on how to successfully implement an advanced Ai driven Clinical decision support system in the Oncology Pharmacy setting. \nEleanor Ball \nElly is a senior cancer pharmacist working in education and training at UCLH. She is a member of the BOPA Education Subcommittee\, an editor of the Let’s Talk About SACT podcast and a member of the BOPA Immunotherapy Specialist Advisory Group. \nVivian Wong \nVivian qualified as a pharmacist in 2019 and completed her residency training at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. Vivian recently specialised in oncology in 2021\, joining Barts Health NHS Trust as a specialist oncology pharmacist.
