Eckel. \n  \nSpeakers’ Biography: \n \nStephen F. Eckel is the Associate Dean for Global Engagement at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. He is also an associate professor in the Division of Practice Advancement and Clinical Education (PACE). In addition\, he is director of the two-year master of science in pharmaceutical sciences with a specialization in health-system pharmacy administration. This degree is hosted at 23 sites across 12 states. At UNC Medical Center\, he is residency program director of the 2-year program in health-system pharmacy administration. He has worked with almost 250 residents over the years. \n As an innovator and entrepreneur Eckel co-founded ChemoGLO\, LLC with Bill Zamboni\, PharmD\, PhD. He also founded Nuvai Medical Technologies Inc\, which is developing the Precynge medical device and Aseptique\, a machine learning evaluation of aseptic technique. He is a passionate supporter of the role of the pharmacist and the use of technology in patient care. He conducts and publishes his research and is frequently asked to speak on these issues. \nEckel has been very active in the North Carolina Association of Pharmacists\, serving in the past as President. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. In 2023\, NCAP named him the health-system pharmacist of the year. He is a Fellow of ASHP\, APhA\, ACCP\, FIP\, NCAP\, and the National Academies of Practice in Pharmacy.

DESCRIPTION:Friday 20th June 2025 at 12:00 BST\n  \nClick HERE to register\n  \nThe BOPA Education and Training Subcommittee would like to invite you to the E&T Webinar: Harnessing AI in Oncology Pharmacy Practice – Focus on Administrative Efficiency by Bastiaan Buijtenhuijs and Pinkie Chambers\, Co-Chairs of the BOPA Artificial Intelligence (AI) Specialist Advisory Group\, and Phil Barron. \nSpeakers’ Biography: \n \nBastiaan works for iQ HealthTech as the head of product and the product owner for iQemo. iQemo is a best of breed SACT prescribing system and is widely used in the UK and internationally. As the product owner Bastiaan is responsible for being the interface between the customers – their requirements and the development team to allow new functionality to be effectively developed. He has undertaken the NHS Digital academy and was part of Cohort 3. He has recently completed his MSc as part of the NHS Digital academy and written his dissertation on how to successfully implement an advanced Ai driven Clinical decision support system in the Oncology Pharmacy setting. \n \nPinkie is a clinical academic at University College London (UCL) and University College NHS Foundation Trust. Her research activities are all around improving the delivery of systemic anticancer treatments and has experience of using large datasets and prognostic modelling techniques. She has held various roles within cancer including developing new clinic pharmacy services at UCLH and Lead Pharmacist for London Cancer. She the current co-chair of the UK Chemotherapy board \, joint audit\, and research lead for BOPA and chair of The Chemotherapy Expert Reference group at the NCL cancer alliance as well as a member of the Heath Foundation Q Community. \n \n\nPhil is Chief Pharmacy Information Officer at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust and is also a digital clinical safety officer at the trust. He leads a team of digital pharmacists and pharmacy technicians\, delivering projects including Omnicell\, System C\, and the pharmacy workstream of the Trust’s EPR optimisation programme. Phil is an enthusiastic user of AI in practice and is exploring the use of tools like Microsoft Copilot in pharmacy. He is a member of the BOPA AI Scientific Advisory Group.

She has worked in this role as a job share since 2023 as part of the NHSE Invest to Save Initiative. In this role\, Emma has been involved in several projects to make savings and reduce SACT waste.  \n\n\nSince qualifying as a pharmacist in 2011\, Emma has worked in community pharmacy in the North West of England before moving to hospital pharmacy via bank roles at The Christie Clinic and Airedale. She has worked at Airedale in various clinical roles since 2016. \n  \n \nLouise Hemmings is an Advanced Clinical Pharmacist in Cancer Services working at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust. From September 2023 to September 2024 she undertook a secondment to work with NHSE as part of an Invest to Save Initiative specifically looking at SACT Waste across Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust and Mid Yorkshire Teaching Trust. She completed her MPharm at the University of Bradford and a post graduate clinical pharmacy diploma at the University of Cardiff. Watson \n  \nTopic: Unseen and unheard: The medicine-related needs of older people with sensory impairment (OPwSI) \n  \nBiography \nMags is a health services research and registered pharmacist.  She is Professor of Health Services Research (HSR) and Pharmacy Practice (0.5wte) in the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences\, University Of Strathclyde\, Scotland. She is also an Honorary Professor with the University of Bath. Her academic career spans over 30 years and has focussed upon the safe and effective use of medicines and effective professional practice.  Her research includes the synthesis of evidence and its implementation into practice\, policy and education.  She is the recipient of Fellowships from the Medical Research Council\, Leverhulme Foundation and Health Foundation.  Mags has served on a range of national research funding committees\, has over 120 peer reviewed publications\, and she is a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.  In 2019\, she established her own consultancy business\, Watson Research and Training Limited (https://watsonresearchandtraining.co.uk/). She is a qualified coach and mentor and delivers a range of services that add value to research and individuals involved in research and healthcare.
