DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to inform you that the Introduction to Oncology Course will now be running as a virtual seminar series.\n  \nNo need to register for the first seminar – see meeting invite below \n  \nWednesday 24/06/2020 18:00 – Oncological Emergencies – Bruce Burnett (free to all) \nPlease familiarise yourselves with your local Neutropenic sepsis/hypercalcaemia and tumour lysis syndrome policies. \nMessage from the Speaker – Bruce Burnett: \nFor the introduction to oncology course Oncological Emergencies Session we normally try to compare different policies. This will be difficult to do in real time so if you are taking part please use your local policies to respond to two clinical cases – 2 parts for 2 different patients. You will not be able to see what others have posted until the session proper. \nWe will use Padlet\, which allows users to post notes by clicking the ‘+’ below the answer column. Appropriate background information is available for each case (don’t ask for any more information!) to help you decide on the best action.\nThere are no wrong answers to these but we will try to discuss some of the differences in policy / approach. SUMMARY:My Research - A NEW BOPA Webinar Series - Session 1: Interview Methods
DESCRIPTION:We would like to invite you to join our monthly ‘My Research’ sessions. These sessions are delivered by members that have undertaken an audit or evaluation. They will spend 10 minutes describing their career pathway and the next 10 minutes about the research methods that they used. There will be time for detailed questions following the talk. These sessions will enable members to learn about quantitative and qualitative methods and the learning may guide and help you in your future projects. We also hope that this will be a good opportunity to learn about different career pathways in cancer pharmacy. \n  \nThe first session will be delivered by: \nNina Paton – Homecare pharmacist at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and honorary clinical lecturer University of Manchester \nBiography – Nina qualified as a pharmacist in 2013 after studying at the University of Manchester. Following pre-registration she moved straight into oncology securing a rotational position at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. Since then she has worked in a number of teams at the Trust including aseptics\, clinical trials and supportive care before taking the post of homecare pharmacist. In 2017 she qualified as a non-medical prescriber\, working with the colorectal team at the Christie and in 2018 completed an MSc in Clinical and Health Services Pharmacy.
