DESCRIPTION:Wednesday 15th November 2023 1-2pm GMT\n  \nThe session will be delivered by: Darren Walsh & Chloé Herledan \n  \nSpeaker Biographies:\n\nDarren Walsh (MPSI) is a senior oncology/haematology pharmacist in University Hospital Waterford\, and a PhD candidate and guest lecturer in the School of Pharmacy University College Cork. With experience in aseptic compounding\, ward-based clinical pharmacy and medication optimisation in the outpatient setting\, his research interests include medication optimisation for older adults with cancer\, chemotherapy induced nausea and vomiting\, and medication management in cancer related dysphagia. \n  \n  \n  \n\nChloé Herledan (PharmD\, PhD) is an oncology pharmacist at Lyon Sud University Hospital (Hospices Civils de Lyon\, France) and associate teacher at the University of Lyon. She is specialized in chemotherapy compounding\, experimental drug management\, and clinical pharmacy with a special interest in geriatric oncology. In 2006 she specialised as an oncology pharmacist.In 2008 Suzanne joined The Christie NHS Foundation Trust as an Advanced Specialist Breast Care Pharmacist where she qualified as an independent Non-Medical Prescriber. She works in an outpatient clinic setting alongside medical oncology consultants prescribing chemotherapy and supportive care for patients with early and secondary breast cancer. Suzanne has her own clinic streams for early and advanced breast cancer patients receiving oral SACT. In 1998\, he successfully completed the inaugural US Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties Certification in Oncology Pharmacy (BCOP)\, re-certifying in 2006\, 2013 and 2021. In 2004\, he was awarded Fellowship to the SHPA\, and in 2005 completed his Masters in Clinical Pharmacy. In 2015\, the Australian Pharmacy Council credentialed him as an Advanced Practice Pharmacist. In 2019\, he was admitted as a Member (AM) of the Order of Australia for service to oncology pharmacy as a clinician\, and to professional associations. \nJim has been an active member of many professional organisations\, including the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (SHPA) Committee of Specialty Practice in Oncology and the Cancer Pharmacists Group of the Clinical Oncology Society of Australia. He has been involved in the publication of professional standards of practice for Pharmacists as well as guidelines for the safe delivery of cancer therapies. He has published widely in peer-reviewed journals\, and presented at local\, national and international conferences. \n  \n \n  \n  \n  \nKate Wright \nSenior haematology and oncology pharmacist \nOrange Health Service\, New South Wales \nKate commenced working in Oncology pharmacy in 2008\, and has been working in rural NSW in Oncology since 2016. She has help develop the first Inpatient oncology/haematology unit offering acute leukaemia induction chemotherapy in rural NSW. Her passion is the treatment of Acute leukaemia and high-grade lymphoma\, particularly in rural NSW\, and brining world class\, evidence-based treatment to patients living in rural and remote NSW. DESCRIPTION:Monday 26th June 2023 1-2pm BST\n  \nThe session will be delivered by: \n \nDr Roelof van Leeuwen\, Hospital Pharmacist and Researcher \n \nRuben Malmberg\, PhD Candidate and Clinical Trial Pharmacist \n  \n\nDr. Roelof van Leeuwen and Ruben Malmberg both work at the Erasmus Medical Center (EMC) based in Rotterdam\, The Netherlands. The EMC\, one of the country’s leading oncology centres\, evaluated the IV administration process of immunotherapy. \nIs it possible to treat more IO patients with the same resources and maintaining high quality care? In the Connect and Go program\, Over 100 patients were treated with immunotherapy via an elastomeric pump. This ambulatory pump allows these patients to wander around instead of spending 30 to 60 minutes in the infusion chair. \nDuring the webinar the hosts will address several questions\, such as: what lessons are learned? How were the patients monitored? DESCRIPTION:Wednesday 29th March 2023 1-2pm BST\n  \nThe session will be delivered by: Dr Melanie Dalby\, Programme Manager – Improvement & Transformation\, Barts Health NHS Trust \n  \nBOPA and PRUK have been partnering since 2016 to provide the BOPA-PRUK Research Award. The award provides funding for pharmacy professionals to undertake a research project. Melanie Dalby has been leading on the award process on behalf of BOPA since 2019 with the support of other colleagues. She will be presenting her tips and experiences of the application process to support you with your future research endeavours. \n  \nBiography\nMelanie has worked in oncology and haematology since 2011. Seven of these years have been at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. Previously she has worked at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Princess Royal University Hospital. She completed a Darzi Fellowship (a bespoke leadership programme) in 2017 looking at how community pharmacists can support patients who take oral anticancer therapy. She carried out this work using research methodology and published her work in peer reviewed journals. She was awarded her PhD in 2022. The thesis was titled ‘Optimising the Cancer Patient Journey.’ Currently she works as a programme manager in the improvement and transformation team at Barts Health NHS Trust.

In 2020 Nicola enrolled on the BTEC level 4 in Clinical Pharmacy Services at Bradford College which she completed in 2022. In May 2022 she began her role as an Oncology Pharmacy Technician where she enrolled on the Chemotherapy Enhancing Practice course through Northumbria University including the SACT passport for administering chemotherapy. \nEmma Brownbridge\nEmma first joined NHCT in pharmacy in March 2017 as a trainee dispensing assistant. She completed my NVQ training and was then offered a new role as chemotherapy ward medicine assistant. It became apparent that there was scope for further pharmacy input alongside the struggle to recruit Oncology nurses. As part of her role\, she is responsible for the E-prescribing system management and protocol development across the local consortium between East and North Hert\, West Herts Hospitals and Luton and Dunstable hospital.  \nShe has over 15 years of NHS Hospital experience\, with over 10 years in Cancer Services. She is an independent prescriber\, leading clinics Lung and Ovarian cancer.  \nHer special interests are genomics\, pharmacy leadership and pharmacy research.  \nSana is a member of the BOPA Digital and research subcommittee. She is also member of the genomics affiliated group. Until recently\, she was also working as a Cancer commissioning Pharmacist at NHS England. \nAs the Pharmacy ATMP Working Group Chair for the Trust and Pharmacy Lead for South East Genomics Medicines Service Alliance (SE GMSA)\, she has a special interest in both Genomics and Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs). She is also involved with national working groups to develop and shape services around these for the future. \n  \nWebinar Speaker:\n \nDharmisha Chauhan\nLead Genomic Pharmacist\, North Thames Genomic Medicine Service Alliance hosted by UCLPartners & Specialist Oncology Pharmacist\, Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust\n  \nDharmisha Chauhan is the lead pharmacist in the North Thames Genomic Service Alliance leading on the delivery of pharmacogenetic testing and precision medicine into routine clinical practice. This includes the provision of education and training across pharmacy sectors both at a post-graduate and under-graduate levels and supporting the development of pharmacy competencies frameworks. Working with educators the aim is to demystify genomics to pharmacy professionals and ensure all pharmacy professionals have the skills to implement pharmacogenetics and precision medicine within their clinical practice. Across North Thames\, Dharmisha has develop a North Thames pharmacy genomic network to help raise awareness of the role of pharmacy within genomic medicine through regular educational engagement sessions. Key projects include leadership in the implementation of pharmacogenetic testing in oncology\, haematology\, mental health care and drug-induced hearing loss. \nDharmisha is also an oncology pharmacist at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust and has clinical experience in sarcoma\, skin\, melanoma\, head and neck and lung cancers. She started as a basic grade pharmacist in Derriford Hospital Plymouth and became interested in oncology and haematology during the Bath Clinical Diploma. Since 2005 she has been working in various roles within the Cancer Services Team in Plymouth. Currently she is mostly involved with the safe and prompt implementation of new anticancer therapies and the training of other healthcare professionals in those new therapies. Birgit likes to learn and keep up to date with new therapies. In 2010 she completed a Master’s in Clinical Oncology with the University of Birmingham. She qualified as a NMP in 2011 however sadly due to the set up in Plymouth she never had the opportunity to develop her skills. She is hopeful that this will change one day in the future. \nBirgit’s life reached a bit of a turning point when she was diagnosed with early breast cancer in spring 2021 during the Covid pandemic. Suddenly she was on the receiving end of breast and oncology services. As a result of this cancer diagnosis and various other life changing events Birgit is now focussing even more on leading a healthy lifestyle and wants to enjoy life more fully. Recently she started a yoga teacher training course with the Devon School of Yoga and is hoping to combine pharmacy and yoga in the future. \n  \nRegister for your free place now via the link at the top of the page.
